Here is a list of some major hierarchies that can be accessed through the UC Davis Usenet server, news.ucdavis.edu.  Please note that this is in no way a comprehensive list of what news.ucdavis.edu carries.  Most postings are kept for 5 days, with the notable exception of the "ucd.class" groups in which postings are kept for the duration of one academic quarter.
